It’s indeed an exciting start of the year for Palm and webOS fans.

A day after TCL’s confirmation that it now owns the Palm brand—which it plans to revive—a prototype of a smartwatch powered by Open webOS surfaced.

The Open webOS smartwatch is a collaboration between carmaker Audi and LG, which assumed stewardship of the open-source projects Open WebOS and Enyo when the Korean electronics company bought the webOS operating system from HP in 2013.

Built by LG, Audi’s car-unlocking smartwatch is the first webOS smartwatch glimpsed by the public. Watch Android Central’s exclusive video:
